L&T Infotech licenses Effnet's IP Header Compression Technology

Effnet AB, the expert in IP Header Compression technology and L&T Infotech, a provider of protocol stack software for mobile communications, today announced a licensing and co-operation agreement concerning Effnet's IP Header Compression software. The agreement enables L&T Infotech to integrate Effnet's IP Header Compression software into L&T Infotech's LTE UE protocol stack used by user equipment manufacturers.

IP header compression is used to reduce protocol header overhead thereby reducing the need for bandwidth. It is an important component required to efficiently enable services like VoIP over wireless networks.

This has been successfully tested for Cat 3 operation (100/50 Mbps DL/UL) with a video streaming application.
